Assignor
Definition: The owner of record of a patent application, patent, trademark application or trademark registration who is transferring ownership to another entity (assignee)

Definition: Defense in depth - multiple layers of security to provide added protection to IT resources.
Basic Patent
Definition: The first published patent
Express Mail Mailing Label
Definition: Patent correspondence delivered to the USPTO via the "Express Mail Post Office to Addressee" service of the USPS which is considered filed in the Office on the date of deposit with the USPS.
Patent Family
Definition: A patent family is the same invention disclosed by a common inventor(s) and patented in more than one country.
